Parent guidance and a flexible format adapted to age, motivation and family circumstances.
For children under 15, support primarily takes the form of parent guidance. From age 15, guidance can be combined with individual consultations.
When a child under 15 has OCD, our support primarily takes place through consultations with the parents. You receive knowledge, practical tools and a clear direction for how to support your child in everyday life.
Your child does not need to be able to explain the full OCD pattern or feel ready to speak with a psychologist before you can begin. For many families, the entire course takes place through the parents, while the child attends only a few selected consultations — or none at all.

Your child does not need to attend consultations for your family to receive support. We involve the child when this makes sense for the individual child and when a consultation has a clear purpose — without pressuring the child into a therapeutic relationship.
You develop a shared understanding of OCD and practical ways to respond to questions, reassurance, rituals, avoidance and difficult situations. Guidance starts from the everyday life your family is actually facing.
The course may take place through the parents alone or alternate between parent consultations, selected consultations with the child and family consultations. The format depends on what is helpful in your situation.
OCD plays out in the family’s daily life — for example around morning routines, meals, leisure time and bedtime. We therefore equip you to understand, plan and support the work there, rather than making a short consultation with the child the centre of treatment.
Parents naturally try to create calm when a child is frightened or stuck. Over time, questions, rituals and rules can begin to shape family life. This does not mean that you have done something wrong.
Together, we look at where more support is helpful, where OCD has gained too much influence and which changes are realistic to begin with. Family accommodation is changed gradually and in an order that both the child and family can work with.
The first parent consultation allows extra time to understand your situation and begin practical guidance. Some families need only a few consultations, while others benefit from a longer course.
Many courses take place entirely through the parents. When helpful, selected consultations may include the child or family. From age 15, Ditte can also provide individual treatment.
